"The Mozart selection covers territory often traversed by sopranos of Rubens’s kind in the past, such as Rita Streich, and much more recently Christine Schäfer, whose voice and manner hers resembles. The approach is predominantly light and artless yet, as in the case of those other sopranos’ performances, that does not preclude depth of feeling, as evinced here in Abendempfindung and the song about Luise destroying her letters. Passion is here expressed in the shaping of words and an intensification of tone."
