Born in Cambodia in 1942,Chinary Ung did not hear a symphony orchestra nor see notated music until he was seventeen years old. In 1964,After graduating from Cambodia's ational music conservatory,Ung emigrated to the United States,where he pursued further studies with Chou Wen-Chung and George Crumb. Ung's academic career has included teaching posts at the University of Pennsylvania (1980 - 1987) and Arizona State University at Tempe. ~ "Blue" Gene Tyranny,All Music Guide
