Heinrich Kaminski

German composer and teacher. He studied at the Stern Conservatorium in Berlin and in 1930 succeeded Pfitzner as professor at the Prussian Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin, leaving in 1933 with the Nazis' accession to power and returning to Ried to compose. His music is powerfully polyphonic, with a sense of architecture inherited from Bruckner and of purposeful counterpoint acquired from Bach . His output is small but of high quality; there are two operas (Jürg Jenatsch, 1929 ; Das Spiel vom König Aphelius, 1950 ) and a Passionspiel ( 1920 ), a setting of Psalm 69 and a Magnificat, and organ music.
