IRR magazine is a specialist Classical music magazine published monthly but with a combined issue for July and August. The magazine was launched in March 2000 and in many ways competes directly with Gramophone Magazine in its target readership, though IRR could be considered more for the hard-core collector. Its reviews are comprehensive and scholarly and like those in Fanfare Magazine are more about in depth analysis. In its own words, IRR is ‘for those who know their music but who are prepared to be further enlightened, appreciate good sound-reproduction, without the need for gimmicks’. Top rated recordings are published within the reviews sections where reviewers deem a recording worthy of the badge ‘Outstanding’. Where available to download on our site, Passionato has detailed information on International Record Review’s ‘Outstanding’ titles.
