Naxos

Naxos, the budget price Classical label, has become the most successful recording label of modern times. Naxos was launched in 1987 by founder Klaus Heyman, and it quickly attracted attention for providing reliable, high quality new recordings at budget price. Building a truly international roster of artists during the 1990’s, Naxos set about recording across all genres and eras of classical repertoire, from Early Music to contemporary works. Notable highlights have been recordings of the Beethoven piano sonatas by Jeno Jando, Bax's Symphonies by David Lloyd Jones and Brahms' symphonies conducted by Marin Alsop. Naxos has also branched out with historical re-issues and the licensing of defunct or hard to find labels such as Collins Classics and Delos. Naxos now has a sizeable catalogue of first rate recordings and is still available at a modest price, helping it achieve a pre-eminent position in world-wide classical sales.
