Telarc has maintained a long and distinguished reputation as being one of the finest record labels both in quality of the performances it features and the sound quality of its productions. The label was founded in 1977 by Robert Woods and Jack Renner and over the next 30 years has received numerous awards and approbation from the classical music industry as well as many appreciative record buyers. It was also one of the first labels to fully embrace the digital music revolution.
Down the years Telarc has recorded many of America's greatest conductors - Andre Previn, Robert Spano, Yoel Levi, David Zinman and particularly Erich Kunzel and the great choral conductor Robert Shaw whose recordings form the heart and soul of the label. In addition, European conductors and artists have also contributed to Telarc's impressive catalogue - conductors Paavo Jarvi, Charles Mackerras, Jesus Lopez-Cobos and guitarist David Russell.
In 2005 Telarc was bought, and is now part of, the Concord Music Group of labels.
